Responsible-IT consultant (indicators) — public sector
CGI — Public body in charge of public finances and taxation
Putting in place the eco-design tooling and indicator tracking, following on from the initial assessment. One step of fifteen months of support at the same public body, on the development of its internal online banking service, drawing on the experience of a 150-tool benchmark run for another client.
A selection workshop with developers, architects and project leads, against criteria of open source, ease of measurement and possible automation. A table was produced — tool name, type, nature of the measurement produced, frequency, automation — allowing the cybersecurity team to approve installation on the project.
Tools selected: the GreenIT-Analysis, WAVE and Lighthouse extensions, the greenit-analysis-cli automation and the ecoCode SonarQube plugin, since renamed creedengo. Paid tools were ruled out, along with those requiring internet access or exporting data, and Google Analytics, whose scope was already covered internally. Life cycle assessment was deferred to an action plan after the second assessment.
Indicators fixed in the workshop: EcoIndex as the tracking indicator, alongside a per-page weight budget and a request count budget, applicable across the whole project.
A first phase of manual measurement every fortnight across all pages: following the recommendations, keeping page weight, request count and DOM size in check. A second phase of automated measurement, with greenit-analysis-cli and ecoCode deployed in SonarQube. Weekly tracking, on a dedicated slide of the project progress review.

Five tools selected, approved by cybersecurity
Selection in a workshop with developers, architects and project leads, against criteria of open source, ease of measurement and automation. A comparison table produced to let the cybersecurity team approve installation: paid tools ruled out, along with those requiring internet access or exporting data.
EcoIndex and page budgets set as indicators
EcoIndex adopted as the tracking indicator, alongside a per-page weight budget and a request count budget, applicable across the whole project.
From fortnightly manual readings to automated measurement
A first phase of manual measurement every fortnight across all pages, a second phase with greenit-analysis-cli and ecoCode deployed in SonarQube. Weekly tracking, on a dedicated slide of the project progress review.
DOM size drift caught by the measurement
An increase in DOM size following the application of fixes from an accessibility audit, spotted immediately by the tracking, then analysed and dealt with in a dedicated coaching workshop.
