Responsible-IT consultant — tyre manufacturing
CGI — International leader in tyre manufacturing
An eco-design assessment carried out on the GR491 framework — at the time the only complete framework, and one of international reach. At a client where eco-design recommendations had stayed theoretical, for want of anything concrete to translate them into.
How the assessment ran: identifying the people involved by scope — strategy, architecture, infrastructure, specifications, UX/UI, development — then two-hour interview workshops with each scope's stakeholders, conducted by a technical and a functional consultant together. A questionnaire derived from the framework, refined with the material supplied beforehand and circulated ahead of the workshop, so that as much as possible would surface in the session. Recording, transcription and analysis of the exchanges, with follow-up questions where needed.
Then examination of the application and the processes: code, tooled interface tests, project record, specifications, hosting, deployment, decommissioning policy, batch plan. Then scoring, tailored recommendations and a readout — held with all the stakeholders, since individual effort produces no meaningful gain — extended into an action plan built on the quick wins.
Achievements
- 56 GR491 criteria evaluated
56 criteria evaluated, 60 % compliance at the outset
Evaluation against the 56 "essential" criteria of the GR491 framework, the only complete framework at that date. Compliance measured at 60 % at the start of the engagement. Scoring in an Excel grid: one score per criterion, a consolidated overall score and a graphical readout tab.
- 40 prioritised recommendations
A roadmap of forty prioritised recommendations
Recommendations prioritised by implementation cost and by gain on environmental impact, with an action plan built on the quick wins — around 20 % improvement in practices reachable quickly.
A method that became reusable
At a client where eco-design recommendations had stayed theoretical: producing a concrete method and recommendations portable to other projects.
Buy-in secured at the readout
A readout before all the stakeholders. The presence of an executive committee member with a strong technical background proved decisive in demonstrating concrete recommendations rather than an exercise in greenwashing.
