Operations analyst (batch runtime portal)
Eovi-mcd — A major French mutual insurance group
Every script launching a batch job recorded its start and end times in a MySQL database. A portal displayed those times, but gave no readable view of how jobs chained across a night — and it had stopped working.
First project of the post, carried out with web skills acquired before the hire and shell learned on site. Restoring the interface brought back the reading, and revealed something else: recurring gaps in the data, always on the same jobs. Analysis traced them to batch launchers that did not carry the logging commands.
Some twenty launchers were reworked one by one, to restore a complete view whatever job was run. The project was closely followed by the production manager, and the trust earned there opened the ones that followed. The portal remained in service until departure in 2017.
Achievements
- 20 mutual insurers combined in three years
Two successive combinations over three years
An entity running an in-house information system and Myriade, already on the same package, in 2014-2015; then Adrea and Apreva for the preparation of the Aesio group in 2016-2017.
SEPA in February 2014, DSN in January 2017
Each prepared in the months leading up to its entry into force, from integration through to production rollout.
Production cutover of the data migration
Migration spread over several days, each member of the team relaying to launch and monitor the jobs through to completion.
